In order to avoid a simultaneous failure of all three computer modules that control the flight surfaces on the Boeing 787, the FAA has issued a directive that the computers should all be power cycled at least every 22 days. Just hope you don’t have to reinstall OS.

Reminds me of my coworkers who leave their computers on for weeks at a time and then wonder why they run slow.

Still running Windows 95? You couldn’t change ANYTHING without a restart.

When I started as the Layout Editor for my college’s yearbook, they all complained about how terribly slow their iMac was and had asked for a replacement. My first question, “When was the last time it was rebooted?” Turned out that they had lost the password, so nobody ever shut it down because they wouldn’t be able to get back in. It hadn’t been rebooted in at least a year.
So I Googled how to reset the Admin password without Admin rights, rebooted, and from then on was praised as the office tech wizard.

Real computers with real operating systems don’t need to be rebooted.
